Choosing shoes for work

"Getting dressed for the office doesn't mean leaving your personal style behind."

Your goal to getting dressed for work is to project a professional, competent image, regardless of your employment level or career path.

The styles, colors, lengths and fit of your fashion choices will speak volumes about your ability to do your job.

Colour plays an important part in professional image. Key career colours in clothing and footwear this winter include black, grey, black & white and tan (see below)..

Pointed, squared, almond or round toed, court shoes also come in a heel height to suit everybody. From kitten, wedge and comfy block heels, to sky high stilettos.

And courts are so versatile, you can even wear them with jeans to add instant chic to a casual look.

"Mary-Jane's" (pictured below) are a variation of the court shoe and are considered to be a "must have" footwear item this winter.

Straps offer extra support to the foot as well as adding interest to both flat and heeled styles.

Another hot seller in the corporate category are "peep toes". This elegant style is distinctly feminine, comfortable and can be worn all year around (see below)..

And while heels are a popular choice for the workplace, there are many of us who are on our feet all day and prefer, or are required to wear flats or very low heels/wedges.

But flats need never be boring, the choice is endless at Shoe Show, from chunky leather loathers to Audrey Hepburn inspired ballet flats (see below)..

And finally it goes without saying that "boots" make a great winter fashion statement in the office.

While boots designed to be worn with casual outfits eg. rubbed fabrics, busy straps and studs, are probably best left at home, there are plenty of classic knee high and ankle boots at Shoe Show that tie in nicely with new season tailored and 1940's inspired looks.

To sum up, there are heaps of styles to choose from when it comes to what to wear to work.

And while the shoes you choose for work should err on the conservative side, that's not to say that you can't have fun with hidden platforms, hot new season shapes, buckles, zips and other embellishments (see below)..
